VAARNG Environmental Section

The Environmental Section is located within the Construction and Facilities Management Office headquartered at Fort Pickett. As the largest landholding under VAARNG purview, it follows that a large part of the environmental compliance and conservation work takes place here.

The Virginia Army National Guard Environmental Section is comprised of an assortment of dedicated professionals charged with enabling the mission of the VAARNG to provide ready Soldiers and facilities.

We lead and execute environmental programs in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

We also provide environmental expertise and advise the command to enable the conduct of training, operations, acquisition, and the construction and sustainment of VAARNG facilities.

Some program areas are inter-related due to overarching regulatory drivers, geographic location, or ecological principles. A basic road map is provided below to help you find the information you need, or the POC to talk to.

Forestry Mission

To protect and develop healthy, sustainable forest resources that meet present and future military training needs.

We envision a healthy, abundant forest resource providing military training lands, environmental and economic benefits to the DoD on a sustained basis.

We see a resource whose scenic beauty enhances natural surroundings and whose forested resource supports military training, clean air, clean water, and a diverse population of wildlife.
