NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Virginia Air National Guard applicants signing up for duty in select career fields could receive bonuses up to $20,000. And all successful applicants are eligible for state Tuition Assistance, according to Senior Master Sgt. Joshua Costen, the Virginia Air Guard's Recruiting and Retention Superintendent.

The Virginia Air National Guard has a Recruiting Office located in the Turnberry Crossing Shopping Center in Newport News. Anyone interested in learning more about the Virginia Air National Guard is invited to stop in during business hours to speak with a recruiter.

"We are delighted to be a part of Hampton Roads," says Costen. "With our largest unit, the 192nd Fighter Wing, now at Langley Air Force Base, it is important that we increase our recruiting services on the Peninsula.

"We are currently recruiting for a variety of full time and part time (traditional), officer and enlisted vacancies for the 192nd Fighter Wing at Langley AFB, and a smaller number of part time vacancies for the 200th Weather Flight, and our State Headquarters based in Sandston. The Wing currently has a number of medical officer vacancies.

"We are also seeking individuals interested in trades positions within the 203rd Red Horse Squadron based in Virginia Beach. The engineering squadron has openings for carpenters, electricians, plumbers and heavy equipment operators," Costen adds.

"Air National Guard members receive good pay and benefits and outstanding job training while providing a valuable service to the Commonwealth of Virginia and our Nation," Costen notes. "Give us a call today."

The Recruiting Office, located at 12638 Jefferson Ave.  Turnberry Crossing Shopping Center, Unit 20, is open Monday through Friday except holidays, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Individuals interested in learning more about military service with the Virginia Air National Guard, its training opportunities and educational benefits, may contact the Recruiting Office at 757-225-0340 or 1-800-TOGO-ANG. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are advised to ensure that a recruiter is available, according to Costen.
