Free mortgage assistance clinics available
Virginians can register for Virginia Mortgage Clinics to receive free housing counseling sessions thanks to the Virginia Foreclosure Prevention Task Force created by Gov. Timothy M. Kaine in the fall of 2007. The Task Force sponsors the clinics that will provide participants with general information on foreclosure prevention and free 30 minute face-to-face housing counseling sessions.
The free housing counseling sessions are scheduled for Saturday, June 14 in Richmond, Tidewater and Roanoke and Saturday, June 21st in Chantilly and Woodbridge in Northern Virginia. Attendees will learn about the importance of contacting their lender at the first sign of trouble, working with a housing counselor, knowing their foreclosure prevention options, prioritizing spending plans and avoiding foreclosure scams.
Walk-ins are welcome at the clinics, however space for the face-to- face housing counseling sessions is limited and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. To register for a free housing counseling session, attendees should visit the Virginia Foreclosure Prevention Task Force website at http://www.VirginiaForeclosurePrevention.com.
