WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Maj. Gen. Robert B. Newman, Jr. and the Virginia National Guard will host the Adjutants General Association of the United States 2006 Spring Conference in Williamsburg, Va. from June 20 through 22, 2006. The conference will be held in University Center on the campus of William and Mary College. Conferees include the Adjutants General of the 54 states and territories. The Adjutants General have responsibility for the Army and Air National Guard units of their respective states and territories.
The purpose of the Adjutants General Association of the United States, or AGAUS, is to provide a “central leadership role in promoting and supporting adequate state and national security; in promoting the efficiency of the Army and Air National Guards of the respective states, territories and District of Columbia (referred to collectively as the "States", the "National Guard", the "Guard", or "NG") and of the Army and Air National Guard of the United States (referred to collectively as the "National Guard of the United States" or "NGUS"); and in facilitating and improving the administration of the foregoing National Guard and NGUS affairs through the agencies of the Department of Defense and the several States.”
Lt. Gen. H Steven Blum, Chief, National Guard Bureau will speak during the Guard Senior Leadership Day of the conference. Gen. Blum is scheduled to speak from 8:30 until 9:30 am Tues, June 20, 2006. Additionally following his opening remarks there will be a media opportunity for questions and answers with Gen. Blum in the Colony Room of the University Center from 10:10 until 10:30 am.
