RICHMOND, Va. — Approximately 400 Soldiers from the Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Brigade Combat Team and the Fredericksburg- based F Company, 429th Brigade Support Battalion were called to duty in support of the Presidential Inauguration Jan. 20.

Soldiers assigned to Headquarters Company established a tactical operations center at the Warrenton Armory in Fauquier County. Meanwhile A, B, C, and D companies were staged at various locations throughout the Northern Virginia area to support a possible evacuation of the D.C. area. F Company, 429th BSB provided vehicle maintenance and recovery for the other units.

Although the battalion found out it was getting activated at the last minute, the Soldiers of the unit quickly adapted and performed the mission well, said 1st Lt. David Garner of the 3rd Bn. 116th BCT.

In each location, he added, the Soldiers of the battalion worked seamlessly with their civilian law enforcement counterparts and received many compliments on their professionalism.
