FORT PICKETT, Va. — Married couples of the Virginia National Guard are invited to participate in a Marriage Enrichment Retreat March 8-9 in Alexandria.
The Marriage Enrichment Retreat is specially designed for returning Soldiers and their spouses. Through the partnership with the Family Programs Office and the State Chaplain’s office, this program offers tips and guidance on keeping a marriage strong and on nurturing a lasting love after a long deployment.
The retreat will serve as a platform for couples to communicate and spend time together in a very comfortable setting. The two-day retreat will include the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP®) as well as other lessons that concentrate on knowing your soulmate, disciplines of a healthy family, stress reduction and much more.
The Marriage Enrichment Retreat is not therapy, but rather a way to enhance what already is good in your individual relationship.
Lodging and meals are provided for this retreat at no cost to those participating.
Commanders are authorized to allow their Soldiers and Airmen to split train if attending this retreat, or may coordinate with Family Programs for orders covering the Soldiers, Airmen, and spouses.
“Strong family involvement and family support are key reasons why the Virginia National Guard remains as strong and as ready as it is today,” said Maj. Gen. Robert B. Newman, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia. “Past Marriage Enrichment Retreats have proven to be valuable assets to those who have attended, and I encourage anyone interested to sign-up prior to the 15 February deadline.”
Questions can be directed to the State Chaplain's office at 434-298-6106.
