Virginia Guard units recognized for maintenance excellence

On Nov. 25, 2003, the Regional Army Award for Maintenance Excellence (AAME) competition was held at the State Military Reservation (SMR), Camp Pendleton, Va. AAME Region 1B consists of Delaware, New Jersey, Washington DC, Maryland, Penn., West Va., and Va. Nomination packets for TDA and MTOE organizations were evaluated by representatives from New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia.

Virginia had several winners in different categories:

* In the MTOE Medium Category, the winner was A- Company, 276th Engineer Bn.

* In the TDA Small Category, the winner was Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS) #6, Virginia Army National Guard

* In the TDA Medium Category, the winner was Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site (MATES), Virginia Army National Guard

* In the MTOE Small Category, A Company (Maintenance) 429th FSB was runner up to 259 th Signal Company Tropo (LT) from the Deleware Army National Guard.

Col. Morris F. Adams, Jr., the J4 for the Virginia National Guard, said, “It is encouraging to see that emphasis in maintenance is still a priority throughout our region and it is outstanding to see such participation from Virginia in this years competition.”
