192nd SFS Readies for Ruck March, 9/11 Anniversary

LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. — Airmen from the Virginia Air National Guard's 192nd Fighter Wing Security Forces Squadron marched with 30-pound ruck sacks July 10 in preparation for the "Ruck March To Remember." About 13 Guardsmen from the 192nd will join Airmen from the 633rd SFS as part of Langley AFB's team, which is leg 12 of 15 parts.

Security Forces Airmen from 23 squadrons began the 2,181-mile march July 12 at the Security Forces Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and will finish their journey Sept. 11 at Ground Zero in New York City to coincide with the 10-year anniversary of 9/11.

The Airmen from Langley will meet up with a team from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Amherst, Va., Aug. 25 at 12 pm and relieve them. Team Langley will then travel 141 miles to Moorefield, W. Va., where Andrews AFB, leg 13, will relieve them on Aug. 29 at 12 pm.
