295 Virginia Guard Soldiers ordered to active duty

RICHMOND, Va. – Maj. Gen. Robert B. Newman, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, announced that 295 Soldiers of the Virginia Army National Guard will enter active federal service at their home armories on Jun. 8, 2007. The Guardsmen are currently scheduled to travel to their mobilization station, Camp Shelby, Miss., after a short period of duty at their home armories. Units affected by this mobilization are:

Troop C, 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry

Virginia Beach

These Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers are being ordered to active federal service for 13 months beginn ing Jun. 8, 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

This is in addition to the mobilization of 149 Guardsmen of HHC, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team that will enter active federal service on May 1, 2007; 172 Guardsmen of Company A and Company E, 429th Brigade Support Battalion that will enter active federal service on May 11, 2007; and 597 Soldiers of 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry that will enter active federal service on Jun. 23, 2007. These mobilizations were announced earlier.
