Huffman appointed state command sergeant major

Robert W. Huffman has been appointed as the State Command Sergeant Major for the Virginia Army National Guard. As the State Command Sergeant Major he is the principal enlisted advisor to the Adjutant General, Commonwealth of Virginia. Huffman replaces State Command Sergeant Major Dallas O. Mills who is retiring.

Huffman began his career in the Virginia Army National Guard when he enlisted in Company C, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry in Covington, Va in 1970. He served as an assistant gunner, gunner and infantry squad leader while assigned to that unit. He has also served as an assistant operations sergeant, operations sergeant and division operations sergeant as well as the Command Sergeant Major for the 1st Brigade located in Staunton and the 29th Infantry Division at Fort Belvoir. Huffman is a native of Covington, Va.
