RICHMOND, Va. - The Army and Air National Guard is Virginia's community based military force. In that role our Soldiers and Airmen are committed to improving the quality of life in our communities. An example how that is done is the Innovative Readiness Training or IRT project that the Soldiers of Powhatan's Company A, 276th Engineer Battalion, who returned from a year long deployment in Iraq earlier this year, have undertaken in conjunction with the State of Virginia and the McGuire Veteran's Administration Hospital in Richmond.
When completed the physical fitness track will replace an existing track on the hospital grounds. This project provides a training opportunity for the Virginia Army Guard engineers and a product that enhances the quality of life in the McGuire Veteran's Administration Hospital neighborhood.
