NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— The Virginia Air National Guard recently opened a new Recruiting Office located in the Turnberry Crossing Shopping Center in Newport News. Anyone interested in learning more about the Virginia Air National Guard is invited to stop in during business hours and speak with a recruiter.

"We are excited to be opening this new Recruiting Office; and we are delighted to be a part of Hampton Roads," says Senior Master Sergeant Joshua Costen, the Virginia Air Guard's Recruiting and Retention Superintendent. "With our largest unit, the 192nd Fighter Wing, now at Langley Air Force Base, it is important that we increase our recruiting services on the Peninsula.

"We look forward to a long and beneficial relationship with Newport News and the larger Hampton Roads community," Costen adds. "We are currently recruiting for a variety of full time and part time (traditional) Guard vacancies for the 192nd Fighter Wing at Langley AFB, and a smaller number of part time vacancies for the 200th Weather Flight and our State Headquarters based in Sandston. We are also seeking individuals interested in trades positions within the 203rd Red Horse Squadron based in Virginia Beach. The engineering squadron has openings for carpenters, electricians, plumbers and heavy equipment operators.

"Air National Guard members receive good pay and benefits and outstanding job training while providing a valuable service to the Commonwealth of Virginia and our Nation," Costen noted.

The Recruiting Office, located at 12638 Jefferson Ave., Turnberry Crossing Shopping Center, Unit 20, is open Monday through Friday except holidays, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Individuals interested in learning more about military service with the Virginia Air National Guard, its training opportunities and educational benefits, may contact the Recruiting Office at 1-800-TOGO-ANG or 757-225-0340.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are advised to ensure that a recruiter is available, according to Costen.

To talk with the engineering squadron recruiter, call 757-437-4605.
