Virginia Army National Guard recognizes Soldier and NCO of the Year

Staff Sgt. Maurice Brown (left), is the 2007 Virginia Army National Guard NCO of the Year, while Spc. Jeremiah Finch (right), is the 2007 Virginia Army National Guard Soldier of the Year.

FORT PICKETT, Va. – During an event-filled, state-level competition March 24- 25 at Fort Pickett, Staff Sgt. Maurice Brown of the Fort Pickett Maneuver Training Center was selected as the Virginia Army National Guard Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and Spc. Jeremiah Finch of Headquarters Company, 429th Brigade Support Battalion, was honored as the Virginia Army National Guard Soldier of the Year.

Brown works as a construction section leader at Fort Pickett. Finch is a chaplain's assistant with the 429th BSB.

These two Soldiers will represent the Virginia Army National Guard at the 1st Army’s Region II competition May 18- 20 at Fort Pickett, against winners from Washington, D.C., West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
