by Lt. Col. Chester C. Carter, III
Virginia National Guard Public Affairs Officer

RICHMOND, Va - Maj. Gen. Claude Williams, the adjutant general of Virginia, announced that the 192d Fighter Wing of the Virginia Air National Guard will begin to release airmen called to active duty to support Operation Noble Eagle. Members of the 192d Fighter Wing were called to active duty in response to terrorist activities on September 11, 2001.

Col. Stephen Hicks, the 192d Fighter Wing commander, said the Virginia Air National Guard has been notified by higher headquarters that they have been designated for demobilization. They anticipate the demobilization-taking place over a 30-60 day period for all personnel activated to support Operation Noble Eagle. This conversion comes due to a change in tasking. The exact date to start the demobilization process has not yet been determined.
