Fredericksburg, Leesburg area Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers to return from deployment

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Approximately 160 Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers will be returning to Virginia after serving in Iraq.

WHO: Approximately 130 Soldiers from A Co., 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, in Fredericksburg, Va., and approximately 30 Soldiers from C. Co. 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry, from Leesburg, Va., who deployed as part of A Co., 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.

WHAT: The Soldiers departed Virginia early January 2007, and arrived in Camp Cedar II, Tallil, Iraq. After having provided base security at Camp Cedar II since late March 2007, these Soldiers will be returning home. 

WHEN: The Soldiers are scheduled to arrive at a mobilization station in Fort Dix, N.J., on or about Jan. 30. After several days of administrative processing, they will travel to the Virginia National Guard Armory in Fredericksburg, Va. for a welcome-home ceremony tentatively scheduled for Feb. 4, 2008, but this date could change. The Public Affairs Office will provide updates as the specific date of the homecoming is known.
