VFW presents $10,000 check for Youth Camps

RICHMOND, Va.— The Adjutant General of Virginia met with the commander and adjutant/quartermaster of the Virginia Veterans of Foreign Wars Aug. 27 to receive a check for $10,000.

Maj. Gen. Robert B. Newman, Jr. welcomed Hal Roesch, commander of Virginia VFW, and Kim A. DeShano, adjutant/quartermaster Virginia VFW to his office to accept the check on behalf of the Virginia National Guard.

The money was raised during a fundraising motorcycle ride from Richmond War Memorial to the D-Day Memorial in Bedford Aug. 2.

The funds, which were well received by Newman, will be used to help fund the Virginia National Guard’s Youth Camps program which will benefit the children of Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen.  

“We will be happy to do it again next year,” said Roesch.
