149 Virginia Army Guard Soldiers ordered to active duty

RICHMOND, Va. – Maj. Gen. Robert B. Newman, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, announced that approximately 149 Soldiers of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Virginia Army National Guard, Staunton, will enter active federal service at their home armory on May 1, 2007. The Guardsmen are currently scheduled to travel to their mobilization station, Camp Shelby, Miss., after a short period of duty at their home armory.
These Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers are being ordered to active federal service for 13 months beginning May 1, 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
