Youth Retreat and Training ~ Virginia National Guard

The Virginia National Guard State Youth Program Coordinator is offering a Youth Retreat and Training in Charlottesville, VA at the American Legion Post 74 and outdoor team building activities at Triple C Camp on 25-26 March 2006. 

The retreat and training are for youth ages 8 to 18 and may include children, step children and school age siblings of National Guard Soldiers and Airmen. There will be one class for ages 8 to 12 and a second class for ages 13 to 18. Only 60 total spaces are available for these classes and they will be open on a first come first serve basis.  Upon receipt of the completed application and required forms, the applicants will receive telephonic and email confirmation.

This course introduces youth to Guard Youth Team Building www.gftb.org. It gives them real life training experiences in an interactive non-traditional classroom setting. They will learn about leadership skills, charter building and teamwork in a fun and informal environment.

All attendees must pre-register NLT 15 March 2006 with Kay Baber at (434) 298-6129 or via email kay.baber@va.ngb.army.mil or by fax 434-298-6268 or (DSN 438-6268). The following forms must be completed and signed by the parent and or child for youth to attend: Youth Application, Youth Code of Conduct, Medical Release, Transportation Release and Photography Release. Attendees traveling outside the 50 miles radius of Charlottesville are authorized lodging and travel reimbursement at the authorized government rate on an Individual Travel Order (ITO).  If you reside within the 50 mile radius, you will receive the government rate for travel only on one round trip from your residence.

Meals are on the local economy.  Lunch will be provided Saturday 25 March 2006.

The training will involve light to moderate physical activity, on a voluntary basis. We suggest that youth wear casual, comfortable clothing and shoes for outdoor and indoor activities.

This event requires the assistance of adult volunteers. Volunteers will be put on ITO’s and if over 50 miles lodging and per diem at the government rate.  All adult volunteers must agree to a state police criminal record check. Anyone who is interested please contact Kay Baber.
