The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 requires all federal agencies to analyze environmental effects of their actions before they undertake a proposed activity. The VAARNG conducts environmental analysis through Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), and Records of Environmental Consideration (REC). Analysis of a project early in the planning stage allows us to make wise decisions with respect to our natural and cultural resources, and the human environment.
